Catana Estate is one of my favourite places to photograph a wedding, and I’m proud to be one of its preferred vendors. Set on 100 acres of countryside in Blandford-Blenheim, just outside Kitchener-Waterloo, it feels like a European garden estate: stone architecture, grand castle doors, flower-covered balconies and views over the Nith River. If you’re planning a Catana Estate wedding, this guide shares what I’ve learned as a photographer there: my favourite photo spots, how to plan your timeline, and what to expect when we work together.

Catana Estate is all about variety. In one afternoon we can move from a stone courtyard to garden paths lined with flowers, open countryside and a cliffside view over the river, without ever leaving the property. The gardens are designed with real care, with terraced flower beds, stone urns and blooms spilling from every balcony, so every direction gives us a different, beautiful backdrop.
The setting is also completely private. Surrounded by rolling hills and farmland, the estate gives your photos a calm, timeless feel, with nothing modern in the background to date them. It suits couples who want an elegant, romantic day with an editorial, garden-party look.

Plan for golden hour. Sunset over the countryside and the river is one of the most beautiful parts of a Catana Estate wedding. I recommend setting aside 15 to 20 minutes for sunset portraits. I’ll let you know the exact time for your date and help build it into your schedule.
Give yourselves time for portraits. With 100 acres, courtyards, gardens and river views, there’s a lot to explore. I suggest 45 to 60 minutes for couple portraits, plus time for the wedding party and family formals. I help every couple plan their timeline so the day feels relaxed, not rushed.
Choose the right coverage. Most couples choose full-day coverage at Catana Estate, from getting ready through the first dances, so the whole story of the day is told.
Think about the season. The gardens are at their fullest in summer, when the flowers are in bloom everywhere you look. Early fall brings softer light and warm tones across the countryside.
Have a rain plan. Rain happens! The luxury tent has retractable walls, and the courtyard and covered spaces give us lovely options close by. I always scout indoor and covered spots ahead of time so we’re ready for any weather.

I recently spent an evening at Catana Estate’s 2026 Open House, connecting with other wedding vendors and exploring the property again. It’s always a treat to return, and to see all the small details that make Catana such a special place to celebrate.

Yes. I’m one of Catana Estate’s preferred photographers, and I know the property well, including where the light is best at different times of day and where to go if the weather changes.
Many couples book 12 to 18 months ahead, especially for popular summer and fall dates. I’m currently booking 2027 and 2028 weddings.
