Here’s a fun little blog post from a shoot I did in late August at THE EX! It was almost exactly 2 years since I shot M+M’s wedding, and what better way to celebrate than to have me third-wheel them for some fun candid shots at Toronto’s biggest annual fair!
Event: The Canadian National Exhibition
Two years after I photographed M and M’s wedding, they invited me along to the Ex for a fun, candid anniversary session. Toronto’s big end-of-summer fair turned out to be the perfect playground: bright lights, bold colours and plenty of excuses to laugh.
We started with the classics. The swing ride spun overhead, the carousel glowed with hundreds of little lights, and the two of them shared a big cloud of cotton candy right in front of it. They even raced each other down the giant rainbow slide, which might be one of my favourite photos I’ve ever taken at a session. She wore a soft grey top with a denim skirt and he wore a red plaid shirt, easy, comfortable outfits that matched the playful mood perfectly.
Next we wandered the midway past the Ferris wheel and stopped for a few games. The cheering when one of them finally scored says it all. We also ducked into a funhouse and found a bright red spinning tunnel that made the coolest frame for a quiet moment together.
We finished on the Sky Ride, floating above the grounds with the CN Tower and the Toronto skyline behind them. Seeing the city spread out below as the evening light came in was the perfect way to end the night.
