J+M’s Wedding day
J and M’s early June wedding brought together two of my favourite things: a relaxed backyard tent celebration and a portrait session in the Elora Gorge. The whole day had a soft, natural feel, with lots of greenery, white florals and plenty of laughter.
They started with a first look among the trees. The groom waited with his back turned in a navy suit, and the hug that followed when he turned around was one of the sweetest moments of the day. The bride’s bouquet of white roses and soft blooms with ferns and trailing greenery was perfect for the setting. The bridesmaids wore long dresses in warm champagne and neutral tones, and the whole wedding party couldn’t stop laughing.
Then we headed into the gorge. The river was low and calm, so the two of them kicked off their shoes and waded right in, with the limestone cliffs rising on either side and a high arched bridge overhead. We finished with them sitting barefoot on the rocks by the water, and I love how relaxed and happy they look in every one of those photos.
Back at the house, a black welcome sign on an easel greeted guests, and the ceremony took place on the lawn under the trees. After their first kiss, they walked back up the aisle past rows of white chairs and cheering friends. At golden hour we slipped out to a quiet country road for a few portraits in the warm light, and by nightfall the white tent was glowing under string lights with a sliver of moon overhead.
