DTK Chapel | Kitchener City Hall Wedding | Downtown Kitchener | Carl Zehr Square | A+A

Filed in Wedding — September 26, 2024

This stunning downtown Kitchener wedding beautifully blends urban elegance with heartfelt moments. The day began with a touching ceremony at DTK Chapel , where the couple exchanged vows in an intimate, light-filled setting. Afterward, we explored the vibrant streets of Downtown Kitchener, capturing romantic portraits against the modern architecture and historic charm. The celebration continued at Kitchener City Hall’s Carl Zehr Square , where friends and family gathered for unforgettable moments. Every photo showcases the couple’s love, the city’s unique character, and the timeless joy of their wedding day. Reach out to start planning your wedding photography!

The ceremony at DTK Chapel

DTK Chapel is a bright, modern space in downtown Kitchener, and it’s perfect for couples who want an intimate ceremony without a big production. A and A said their vows under a round floral arch, surrounded by their closest family and friends. The natural light from the windows made everything feel soft and warm, and the deep red tones of the bouquet looked beautiful against the clean, simple backdrop.

Portraits in downtown Kitchener

After the ceremony we walked the city for portraits. Downtown Kitchener has so much variety close together: brick buildings, wide stone steps, terraces with views over the rooftops, and modern glass and concrete. We timed the portraits for the late-afternoon light, which turned everything golden. Some of my favourite frames are the quiet ones, with the two of them close together on the terrace, the city behind them.

Kitchener City Hall and Carl Zehr Square

We finished at Kitchener City Hall and Carl Zehr Square, where the open plaza and the clean lines of City Hall make a striking, modern backdrop. It’s a great spot for both big family groups and simple, editorial portraits of the couple.

Tips for a downtown Kitchener wedding

  • Small and meaningful: a chapel ceremony keeps things intimate and leaves more of the day for portraits and celebrating.
  • Plan a walking route: DTK Chapel, the downtown streets and City Hall are close together, so a short walk gives you lots of variety.
  • Golden hour: the hour before sunset gives the warmest light on the brick and stone.
  • Backup plan: City Hall and the downtown buildings offer covered spots if the weather turns.
