Langdon Hall | Intimate Fall Wedding | M + J

Filed in Wedding — October 13, 2018

Maria and James first met because they shared a love for dogs, and Iago was always a big part of their relationship. When James proposed to Maria, Iago wore a big heart sign that wrote “Marry Him” – so sweet! Here are a few highlights from their special day! Flowers: Fresh Look Design Inc. Desserts: The Cake Box Venue: Langdon Hall Country House Hotel & Spa, Cambridge Ontario

An intimate fall wedding at Langdon Hall

Maria and James’s October wedding at Langdon Hall was small, elegant and full of personal touches. Langdon Hall is one of my favourite places to photograph in every season, and in the fall its gardens, brick walls and autumn leaves feel especially timeless.

Rich fall florals

Their flowers set the tone for the whole day: deep burgundy dahlias, red roses, white blooms, trailing amaranthus and eucalyptus, with a succulent tucked into Maria’s bouquet. The arrangements sat in black wire lanterns and silver urns, and their two-tier ruffled cake was finished with a single burgundy flower. Guests even went home with heart and rose cookies tied with a little gold key.

A first look in the garden

Before the ceremony, Maria and James had a first look in one of Langdon Hall’s quiet garden corners. James wore a navy tuxedo jacket with a burgundy bow tie, and Maria wore a fitted, softly draped gown. When he turned around, James had to wipe away a few tears, and that moment is still one of my favourites.

A ceremony in the conservatory

They said their vows in Langdon Hall’s bright conservatory, with its brick wall, slate floor and rose petals scattered down the aisle. And of course Iago was right there with them for the ceremony. Afterwards everyone moved into a private dining room with a chandelier, dark green walls and a long table dressed with greenery.

Tips for an intimate Langdon Hall wedding

  1. Go all in on the details. With a smaller guest list, your florals, favours and cake can really shine.
  2. Include the ones you love. If your dog is part of your story, find a way to bring them into the ceremony.
  3. Plan a first look. A few private minutes in the gardens before the ceremony gives you time to take it all in.
