I’m on vacation, but I couldn’t help myself- I had to blog Brandon + Ashley’s engagement! (To be fair, everyone is napping so I have some ‘down time’ hehe). PLUS I couldn’t wait to share these! What a fun + easy-going couple to photograph. These two giggled and danced around like nobody’s business (except mine 😉).

A late-spring engagement at Guelph Lake
Brandon and Ashley’s engagement session at Guelph Lake had a little bit of everything: shady trails, a quiet beach, a pine forest and a wide-open field at sunset. Guelph Lake is still one of my favourite places in Guelph, because you can find so many different looks in one evening.
Trails and a wooden fence
We started on a wooded trail beside a rustic wooden fence, with the evening sun glowing through the trees. Ashley wore a flowing off-the-shoulder floral dress and Brandon a light blue button-up, soft colours that looked so pretty against all that green. A little circle of tree-stump seats made a sweet spot to sit together, and her ring got its moment on a piece of bark.
By the water
Next we walked down to the shore. With the lake stretching out behind them and the light turning soft and pink, these two could not stop laughing and dancing around. Then we wandered into a tall pine forest, where the trees made the most peaceful backdrop.

We finished in an open field as the sun went down, with plenty of piggyback rides and twirls, and one last kiss in the middle of a quiet country road.
Tips for an engagement session at Guelph Lake
- Plan for variety. Trails, water, forest and field are all close together.
- Wear something flowy. A long dress catches the breeze by the water.
- Stay for sunset. The open field glows in the last light of the day.
