Most of my photography is focused on capturing couples during their engagement time or on their wedding day. It’s not often that I get a chance to photograph a couple that is well on their marriage journey. Although they were not celebrating anything specific, it was still so special to capture Sydonie and Josh. We hiked down by the river (it was quite a steep walk down!), and then they started off their session by taking turns praying for each other. I felt blessed to witness a young couple putting God first in their marriage, and for wanting that moment to be a part of their memory-making.
Hope you enjoy some of my favourites from this Elora session!
Sydonie and Josh’s session was a reminder of how beautiful the Elora Gorge is in spring. The river was running clear over the rocks, the trees were just turning green, and the evening light was soft and calm.
After their quiet moment together, we explored the riverbed below the high arched bridge. Sydonie wore a long grey cardigan over a white dress and Josh a sage button-up with jeans, soft colours that blended beautifully with the stone and water. They sat together on a big rock in the middle of the river, and we found a shady spot under the limestone overhang where the cliff curves right over your head.
Next we climbed up into a tall pine forest, then crossed a little wooden footbridge and walked a quiet gravel road lined with trees. As the light faded they swapped into dark jackets, and Sydonie added a black hat for a few last portraits in a meadow as the sky turned pink and blue.
