Christopher and Alyssa’s engagement is probably my favourite fall engagement that I’ve ever photographed! I recently discovered Pioneer Memorial Tower Park, and when Christopher asked if we could do their photos there I was beyond thrilled! I had been dreaming of doing a shoot at this location ever since I first visited the park. These two were so sweet and fun to work with, and I loved that Alyssa even brought along a cozy blanket and a cool looking lantern!
Yesterday Christopher and Alyssa celebrated one year of being together. Congratulations you two! I can’t wait to cheer you guys on next year when you tie the knot!
This park has so much more than the tower itself, and Christopher and Alyssa’s session let us explore all of it. Mid-October brought red ivy, golden leaves and soft evening light, and the views over the valley were incredible.
We started near the stone tower with its pointed roof, then spread out Alyssa’s cozy blanket on the lawn for a few relaxed moments together. Alyssa wore a deep burgundy top and Christopher a soft grey sweater, perfect colours for the season.
Next we wandered through the old stone walls and window openings on the hill, and found a tall silo completely covered in bright red ivy, one of my favourite backdrops I’ve ever found. We also stopped at an old brick house with a white porch, and caught a silhouette of the two of them under a timber frame as the sun set behind them.
The hilltop looks out over the river valley, and in October the whole view glows orange and gold. For the last part of the session they changed into lighter layers, and we settled back on the blanket with Alyssa’s lantern glowing beside them.
