“Even I never dreamed of magic like this.” -CSL
J and S’s engagement session at Valens Lake Conservation Area was pure magic from start to finish. Tucked away in Puslinch, between Cambridge and Hamilton, the lake has quiet water, tall reeds and shady forest trails, all within a short walk of each other.
We started at the edge of the lake, with the water calm and blue behind them. She wore a black dress covered in bright orange and pink flowers, and he kept it simple in a dark tee, which let her dress really pop against the water and greenery. A few close, cozy moments in the tall grass by the shore turned out to be some of my favourite portraits of the evening.
Next we followed a trail into the woods, where the low sun came streaming through the trees and lit them up from behind. That warm, golden glow on the path is exactly why I love sunset sessions.
We stayed right until the sun went down, finishing with a silhouette on the water as the sky turned pink. Then, just after sunset, the sky faded to a deep blue over the reeds, the perfect quiet ending to a beautiful night.
